AIR SPEED set: CAS × 1.163 = TAS · ALTITUDE set: IA × 0.999 = TA
DENSITY ALT window now reads -0.0 ×1000 ft · M 1.0 = 638 kt at -5 °C
COMP. CORR. divisions are printed for realism — above ~300 kt TAS the Digital mode is the exact path.
HOW TO — CALCULATION SIDE
  1. Time · speed · distance — put the black ▲60 under your groundspeed on the outer scale. Every distance (outer) now reads over its time in minutes (inner); hours are on the orange band.
  2. Convert units — set the cursor hairline through a red datum (KM-M-LTR, Naut.M, Feet…), put your value under the hairline on the inner scale, then swing the cursor to the other unit's datum and read the inner scale again.
  3. True airspeed — align pressure altitude against air temperature in the AIR SPEED window; TAS (outer) reads over CAS (inner). The MACH No arrow appears in the same window.
  4. True altitude — align temperature (base) with pressure altitude (edge) in the ALTITUDE window; true altitude (outer) reads over indicated (inner).
  5. Density altitude — set the AIR SPEED window first, then read the DENSITY ALTITUDE window against its arrow.
C.O.A.T. = corrected outside air temperature · PA = pressure altitude · IA = indicated altitude · CAS/RAS = calibrated airspeed
